Rajasthan – ‘The land of the Maharajas’ - has been the abode of many brave kings of this country. It is home to many forts and palaces. It is not just an expansive state of India in terms of area but also in what it has to offer in terms of royal splendor, heritage, tradition, culture, music, architecture, and cuisine, making it one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in the country. The spectacular sights along the route, from the lakes of Udaipur to the Great fortress of Kumbhalgarh to the palaces of Jaipur, will leave you in awe of what this majestic state has to offer.

Rajasthan is also 'The Land of Colours’ and one of the most captivating states of India perhaps because it hosts a vast, diverse tribal population in its artistic regal architecture.

On this cycling tour of Rajasthan, you will bike with us through some of the most popular heritage destinations:
Udaipur – the city of Lakes. It is the perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
Kumbhalgarh(fort) – known as the Great Wall of India is a 15th-century AD fort cradled in the Aravali ranges.
Ranakpur– is known for the most spectacular Jain Temple from the 15th century.
Jawai – the leopard paradise.
Jodhpur – known as the Blue city of India

Let’s pedal through this glorious land and watch the stories of the bygone golden era unfold.

ITINERARY

Day 1 (Udaipur):
  • Arrive at Udaipur and transfer to the hotel.
  • Half-day guided walk to the largest and most beautiful, Indo-Aryan Lord Jagadish temple (built in 1651 AD).
  • This will be followed by a visit to the Udaipur City Palace, one of the architectural marvels of Rajasthan, located on the bank of Lake Pichola.

Day 2 (Kumbalgarh):
  • Transfer to Iswal.
  • Ride from Iswal to Kumbhalgarh. We traverse through the mountains close to the Aravallis. On the way, you will witness the lifestyle of the Bhil tribes. The Bhil are one of the largest tribal groups living in western India. The name is derived from the word 'billu', which means bow.
  • Post-ride, visit the Kumbhalghar fort.
  • Ride distance: 60 km, Cumulative Elevation Gain: 900 m

Day 3 (Jawai):
  • This region is called ‘Godwad’, and the beauty of its terrain is like no other. The Rocky Mountains and solid rock caves with dry semi-arid vegetation make it the perfect habitat for the leopard.
  • Enroute, we visit the stunning 15th-century Ranakpur Jain Temple. The main temple, beautifully carved from marble, is dedicated to Adinath. It has 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars, each delicately carved with a different design and later transfer continues to Sena village.
  • Post-ride, travellers have the option to experience a leopard safari.
  • Ride distance: 70 km, Cumulative Elevation Gain: 400 m

Day 4 (Bhenswara):
  • All the days of the tour are culturally immersive, but this one is even more so. We will ride through small villages and see the vibrance of the land on display. As we ride to Benswara, you will see women clad in colorful sarees and men sporting huge mustaches. We will also ride through the huge marketplace of Shivganj.
  • Overnight stay at a small castle that befits royalty.
  • Ride distance: 70 km, Cumulative Elevation Gain: 200 m

Day 5 (Fort Chanwa, Luni):
  • As we ride to Rohet Garh, the terrain changes dramatically from the hills to the plains. We ride through granite mountains, shepherd villages, and a village near Jodhpur that is formerly a Jagir ‘fief’ of the Thakur of Rohat.
  • Post-ride, we will take a village tour to interact with the locals and understand rural life.
  • The village has a small fortress which is now a hotel, your accommodation for the night.

The city is surrounded by an immense wall almost 10 km in length and is dominated by the massive fort that stands on a rocky hill commanding the surrounding desert.
