Depending on which root/route you take, the etymology of the name Kodaikanal can reveal one of several meanings: "the gift of the forest", "a place to see in summer", "the summer forest" or "the forest of creepers". On this tour, Kodaikanal will mean all of these things and so much more.
The ride up Kodaikanal is a difficult but incredibly beautiful one, through the back-country roads where few, if any, have ever ridden. As you leave the plains, the climb first passes shrub forests and then tropical forests which get progressively denser as you gain altitude. The routes that we've carefully charted out for this tour will give you breathtaking views of hilly landscapes, forests, valleys and many lakes and dams. On the second day, we will be riding through the forest between Kodaikanal and Munnar, a route that's not used by motorized vehicles, only frequented by village folk plying their local trade on horses.
Join us to experience this soul-filling journey through these lands of many enchantments.
